The Arc Trial is a Group 3 flat horse race in Great Britain which is open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Newbury over a distance of 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 5 yards (2,217 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September.
The event was established in 1997, and it was initially classed at Listed level. It was promoted to its present status, Group 3, in 2004.
Despite its title, the Arc Trial has rarely featured a genuine contender for the following month's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Of the few runners to have contested the "Arc" in the same year, the best finishing position has been seventh. This was achieved by Swain, the third-placed horse in the inaugural edition of the Arc Trial.
